Welcome to Our New Website!

I’m really pleased to welcome you to the new Aberfeldy Boxing Club website.

The club has come a long way since we first started running weekly boxing sessions outdoors on Millennium Green. At the time, I could see there simply weren’t enough activities and opportunities for children and young people in the local area. Boxing gave us a way to bring people together, give young people somewhere positive to go and start building something for the community.

Daryl Greenslade came on board to help with the sessions and from those early days and a few makeshift homes along the way, the club continued to grow. At the end of 2019, we finally received the keys to our own unit at 29 Aberfeldy Street.

Of course, what happened next wasn’t exactly what we’d planned. Just a few months later, the country went into lockdown and we suddenly had a gym that couldn’t be used for the purpose we’d created it for.
But Aberfeldy Boxing Club has never just been about what happens inside a boxing ring.

More Than a Boxing Club
Today, we operate across two units and provide open gym sessions, amateur boxing, adult keep-fit sessions and sessions for children and young people.

Our work also takes us beyond the gym.

We work with specialist schools, supporting young people through boxing, physical activity and positive engagement. We run free summer schemes for the local community, helping make sure that cost isn’t a barrier to young people having somewhere positive and active to spend their time.
We want the club to be somewhere people feel welcome, supported and part of something.
Keron and the rest of our team share that belief. We’re here to talk to our members, listen to them and support them. The gym has become a safe haven and a community hub and that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

Stop the Stabbing. Stick to Jabbing.
During lockdown, when we couldn’t serve the community from inside the gym, we started looking at other ways we could make a difference.
That’s when Stop the Stabbing. Stick to Jabbing. was born.
The initiative reflects something that has always been at the heart of Aberfeldy Boxing Club: giving young people a positive alternative.
Through boxing, mentoring and engagement, we want to give young people somewhere safe to belong, people they can talk to and opportunities to build their confidence, discipline and aspirations.

Come with a past. Leave with a future.
Those words say a lot about what we’re trying to achieve. We aren’t interested in judging somebody by where they’ve come from. We’re interested in where they can go next.

Our Next Chapter
This new website is another step forward for the club.
We’ve created it to make it easier for people to find our sessions, discover what’s happening at the gym and learn more about the work we’re doing throughout the community.

But we also want it to help us tell the wider story of Aberfeldy Boxing Club.

There are parents, boxers, schools, coaches, volunteers and members of the community behind everything we do. Over time, we’ll be using the website to share more of their stories, experiences and achievements.

We also want to connect with businesses, organisations and individuals who believe in what we’re doing. Continued support and investment can help us reach more young people, deliver more community programmes and create more opportunities for those who need them.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to train, you’re a parent looking for an activity for your child, a school interested in working with us, or an organisation interested in supporting our community work, we’d love to hear from you.

Thank you to everybody who has been part of Aberfeldy Boxing Club so far.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come and we’re excited about what comes next.

Kirk Whitelock
Club Director, Aberfeldy Boxing Club
